Today I made a great decision, many are on stakes, I'm quitting smoking, some might have heard this for a few times, I don't need your awful comments, if you do, fuck off, my girlfriend and I have been arguing about my smoking issue ever since I ORD-ed. I promised her I'd be quitting since, apparently, I failed to keep that promise, nonetheless, I hope today onwards will be for the better =)
My decision came about after an agreement came up by my girlfriend and I last Sunday, a decision saying, today will be last day of smoking. It'll be weird, but I think, things have to be done, it's one of the greatest decision so far, I really need a lot of support from friends and Vanessa =)
My Motivations
Some of the motivations will be my girlfriend, I understand why she doesn't like smokers, because her asthmatic is caused by second hand cigarette smoke, and she just simply doesn't like the smell of smoking after-math.
And let's think of our parents, if you're the type of smoker like I was, smoking for many years, without the knowledge of my parents, and there are no other smokers in the family line, what if they were to find out one day, that you've been smoking for the past 6-7 years without them having a clue, or, what if they were suspecting you were smoking, and catches you red-handed, I've had many close calls for the past few years, I have a habit of keeping my cigarette in the front zip column of my bag, and whenever my parents were to come into my room, and touch my bag, I'd be paranoid and grab the back from them, like it or not, this is living in fear, I don't really like it.
If you're with this clique of friends you've yet to seen in a while, and you guys are out one night, when you take a puff, realising they're totally non-smokers, screwed, you'd be alone, some of you might be fine with that, but I sure need company for smoking.
Some might be alright with this, but I'll try to get rid of the smell on my finger tips as well as on my breathe, it's kind of attention attracting when you're squeezing the peak hour bus and you know you don't smell that fresh in the morning, it's gonna spoil many other's morning I'm telling ya, in case you're not aware, you don't smell the same when you taste your own breathe and when you're a 2nd party sharing the same air, it's quite inconsiderate I'd to admit.
Financial wise, you might have escaped so far, I'd always flick off my cigarette butts after I'm done with them, but for once, I wasn't so lucky, I got caught by plain shirt NEA officers, cost me $300, it's quite a sum honestly speaking, because of that cigarette butt that cost around $0.50, you're paying an amount of approx 30 packets, worth it? Everytime I run outta pay, because of cigarettes, say we're spending $10 a pack, last me 3 days, 30day's be $100, not considering when you're having night life, you're gonna smoke more, I probably can't resist a stick or two during night life, but I'll try, heard from my kitchen incharge, his friend just got fined $1000 for contra-band cigarettes, damn, that's like how many times more then my fine? darn
Many say, Smokers are winners, because they never quit, well I say, those who quit smoking are champions because they're willing to overcome for a better everything in life.
Stress? gotta take a puff? it's just an excuse, c'mon face it, it has been scientifically proven that nicotine only worsen your anxiety when you're under stress.
A puff in the morning keeps your day going? Probably, it serves as much a purpose as a morning prayers, psychological effect on the brain people.
I don't really have much more to say, thanks for reading my blog, check out my blog all the way till new year's eve, hopefully, you're witnessing my route to success, and that it'll be a motivation for many other smokers.
I hope my message hasn't been in vain, and that I'll really make it this time, I know it's hard when your friends start asking you for a smoke break, but of course, mind over matter my friends =)
